Hi, my name is Arya Ray, I started playing volleyball in second grade. I wasn't on a team but played with my two cousins in their driveway. I always strive to be as good as they were when they played. Volleyball has changed who I am today, it taught me time management and respect, and it also gave me Mental toughness and confidence. I don't know where I would be without volleyball or any sport I play. I wouldn't have the friends I have or the grades. Volleyball pushes me to do better in class. I have had to deal with many obstacles throughout my sports career, including with a coach who I don't think knew what they were doing or dealing with a player who was bringing the energy down. The way I overcame those was by just staying positive working hard and uplifting my team to be the best they or I can be.
My goal for my academics is to be taught how to wrap and help athletes while they play the sport they love without getting hurt. I have rolled my angles a few times and hurt my knee, without those athletic trainers, I don't think I would be playing sports.
Thank you for reading my statement.
