Hello! My name is Alicia Bjornestad. I am from a small farming town called Big Sandy. I fell in love with volleyball my sophomore year and worked extremely hard to become a varsity starter my junior year. It’s been a dream of mine to play volleyball in college for a long time. Growing up in a small town has forced me to want to branch out into other communities and make friends from other towns. I found from a young age the best way to meet new people is to play sports. I have played different sports throughout the years including basketball, track and field, dance, and swim team. Although these sports are all wonderful and fun, my favorite has always been volleyball. I have put in lots of time and work for this sport and would be so grateful to have an opportunity to play in college! My team made it out of our district competition in 2019 for the first time in ten years. We received third place and couldn’t have been happier. I’ll never forget the feeling of winning that last match and celebrating with my team. We all work hard and well together and we plan to go further my senior year. I am also hoping to be team captain next year and be able to show exceptional leadership skills on and off the court.
Academically I work hard and try to excel the best I can. I achieve well in school and take difficult classes to challenge myself academically. I am ranked second in my class and have received academic honors throughout my last three years. My goals for college are to complete a four year nursing degree (bachelors) and become a registered nurse. I have already taken several college credit courses to prepare myself for my years in college and gain credits in high school. I’m not afraid of hard work and I learn and adjust quickly to any situation. Volleyball is a passion of mine and I hope to receive an opportunity to play in college. Thank you so much for your time and consideration!
