Hello - my name is Victoria Carrico and I go by “Tori”. I am actually relatively new to volleyball. My formalized volleyball experience began just 3 years ago when I made the HS Freshman Team.
I instantly fell in love with the sport and being part of a team. The more I played and began improving, the more I wanted to learn and do! I joined several Leagues and Clinics with CJVA (Central Jersey Volleyball Academy) and did Metro Volleyball Events to develop my technical skills. My initial position was a DS/Libero. Sophomore year, I earned a spot on the HS JV Team as a “setter”. It was a great season and I feel good about my progress and contributions to the team, but most importantly I’m grateful for the supportive coaches and amazing group of girls. This past summer before my Junior year, I was enrolled in several CJVA camps/clinics including beach as well as two Nike Volleyball Camp sessions as my goal was and is to continue to refine and up-level my game play. This resulted in my earning a spot on Varsity and on a 17s CJVA Club team. The summer going into senior year, I enrolled in multiple beach volleyball tournaments and college clinics. Most recently, I earned a spot on the Sideout Sports Volleyball Club, 18 National Team.
Volleyball is so much fun and has become such a big part of my life. It’s given me a much needed outlet to focus my energy. It was my “happy place” during the pandemic. I cannot imagine volleyball not being part of my life now! I have learned so much about volleyball, teamwork, and myself in such a short period of time and yet, I know there is still so much more to learn. I am excited to continue this journey into college and beyond - I am so looking forward to it!
