Personal Statement
Hello!
My name is Sofia Stack, I’ve been playing volleyball for the past 6 years with my Junior HS, HS as well as with the Allegro Volleyball Club (NJ). The past 3 have been on Allegro’s National team. I realized when I began training with my first national team at age 13, the two things I found, ability to focus and confidence, had the power to help other areas of my life.
In Junior HS I had a difficult time concentrating in class and my confidence was at a low point. The work wasn’t necessarily hard, I was just having difficulty focusing. I learned that when I focused the way that I did during practice, my grades improved, and I started gaining confidence. I started feeling much better about myself and it showed in everything I did. I honestly believe that what I learned on the volleyball court early on paved the way for me to become a better student and a much more confident person.
I've grown up learning the value of hard work and dedication from both of my parents. My father is a Fire Fighter and my mother is a Spanish teacher in a special needs school.
I’m not at the finish line yet and I realize there is a lot more learning and growing to do as a person and student athlete. I can’t wait to take the next step at the collegiate level.
