Jersey Tafoya '24 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Jersey Tafoya and I attend Sandia High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. For a little over 6 years of my life, my main inspiration and love has been volleyball. I had played various sports throughout my childhood, but the first time I picked up a volleyball was life changing. Ever since I started playing volleyball in 6th grade, it has been one of my passions and something that I want to do every day. I remember that I would watch hours and hours of collegiate volleyball and dream to be like one of those amazing athletes one day. Each year leading up to our current day, I have found many ways to continuously grow as an athlete and improve my talents in volleyball by training with a personal trainer, taking private lessons with coaches, and practicing at home. I have played positions including defensive specialist, outside hitter, right-side hitter, and setter. I can adapt to any position my coaches want me to play, and I can guarantee that I play extremely passionately; hoping to help in leading my team to victory. I am a very hardworking athlete. My focus on the court is steadfast, and the only thought in my mind while playing volleyball is to play the best I can, while also helping my team succeed. I am able to lead my team and have often been described as a leader by my club coaches.

As well as being extremely passionate about volleyball, I am incredibly passionate about my academics and school. Throughout my high school years, I have maintained a 3.6 - 4.0 GPA. School is so important to me because I have also always dreamed of being able to go to a school with high level academics. I have challenged myself throughout my high school years by taking AP courses, continuously trying to increase my intelligence.
