Shadiya Beckett '24 Recruiting Profile

Although I began my volleyball journey fairly recently, my passion for the sport has grown tremendously over the past couple years. This has undoubtedly driven me to seek as many available opportunities improve my skills and not only learn how to be a more dynamic player, but also a well rounded individual. 

I have a growing ability to read court movements, increasing reaction rate and strength, as well as an overall improvement in my athleticism. I am coachable, reliable, and motivated. Whether driven by my constant yearning for personal growth, or by an observed mistakes, I am always looking for areas to improve on. Academically, I aim to major Computer Engineering, with a minor in either Graphic Design or Music Technology. 

Ultimately, my goal is to play competitive collegiate volleyball while working towards a masters in Computer Engineering. I am aware of the hard work, long hours, and mental stamina that would be required for such a feat, but my perseverance and passion for the sport will keep me working as hard as possible. 

I believe in my ability to be a part of such team, as I understand that volleyball is heavily reliant on team dynamics, respect and communication. I believe in providing support to everybody around me, which would include teammates, coaches, managers, and everyone else who is involved in our team. As such, I am fully ready and willing to embark on my journey to playing another level of volleyball, and contributing greatly to your team.
