Winning the first tournament of my sophomore year club season will forever be a highlight of my high school volleyball career. My team and I worked very hard all of preseason for that win and we succeeded. Winning always makes me feel accomplished, but losing always teaches me valuable lessons. I have had my share of losing seasons, but what I am proud of, is that I never walked away or stopped trying. Even when the game seemed hopeless. I have been able to grow my skills and character as a player through my wins and my loses. I do not miss opportunities to learn, and I strive to never make the same mistakes twice. I am a team player, and I am very coachable because I want to improve my game, which will ultimately help my team to succeed. I learned to persevere at a young ago off the court because my mom has been battling metastatic breast cancer since I was six. I now take this perseverance and use it on the court to be a leader, no matter the score. I try to always give my best, to ask good questions, and to go in early or stay late to get better at my athletics.
I will always have more to learn, and so I am ready to except the challenge of becoming a college athlete. Because of my many years of diverse experiences playing volleyball I feel like I have much to offer at the college level. I believe I have the drive, discipline, heart, talent, character, and leadership skills to find success on a college team. Through being a captain on seven different teams, playing in every game of every season I have ever played, and participating in every extra practice I could, I believe I posses what it takes to be a valuable leader and player on your team.
Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself to you. I am excited and eager to be a college athlete.
All the best,
Anna Sipe
