Personal Statement
- I have not been playing as long as a lot of other girls. However, I have been told by my coaches that I have rapidly accelerated in my skill. I attribute this to my hard work and determination on and off the court. My passion for the sport drives me to be the best for myself and my teammates. I pride myself on my ability to energize my team and being a giver on the court. Whether on the court or on the bench, you will always be able to hear me. Despite my more mature and sometimes quieter nature, I am an absolute animal when it comes to my energy on the court (I'm the one on the team who looses her voice after the second match of the tournament :) ).
- While it is very easy to have a good attitude when things are going in our favor, when we are down, you can count on me to help change that momentum. That being said, sometimes you are just outplayed, and that has helped me to lose gracefully and win humbly. I perform well under pressure when matches are tight. I am proud of my good communication skills and my ability to articulate my feelings in a respectful manner to my teammates, coaches, and peers around me. I have also been commemorated for my perception of the game after bringing my thoughts to my coaches on various occasions. As a libero, it is my job to read the court and look for things others may not notice.
- I am scrappy and love to get on the floor. Where some players get their high from hitting that stellar attack, I learned that my high comes from getting a good dig or that perfectly satisfying pass in serve receive. I try to lead by my actions on and off the court by hussling and keeping a good attitude. Where I lack in natural ability, I make up for in my intensity in the gym.
- As far as my field of study goes, I am interested in the fields of Criminology, Pre-Law, Psychology, etc. Obviously, this could be subject to change, but as of right now it has been a helpful base on which I have begun my research for potential colleges. My goal is to find a school that will give me a good education while also being able to balance a competitive volleyball schedule on some kind of scholarship.
