Imagine playing on the CYO "B-team" in 7th grade volleyball because you didn't make the first year of the middle school team. Along comes 8th grade, you're a starter and make a national JO team. Then as a freshmen in highschool you letter in varsity while also starting and serving as captain on the JV team and then letter and start on varsity as a sophomore. This may sound like a crazy story, but it's been my crazy, wonderful, volleyball experience!
Volleyball players need dedication and true love for the game to stick with it through everything: the conditioning, the 6-hour practices, the 3-day tournaments, the tough losses--and in my case, the initial failure. That set-back in 7th grade taught me that hard work, a learners spirit and dedication are what it takes to be successful. That drive is still alive in me today, and is why I want to take my game to the next level.
My goal from here is to be a starter on varsity the next 2 years of high school and then attend a college where my drive for hard work and continuous improvement can be exercised both academically and athletically. I am open to most options in regards to the location of the college, the division, and the position I would play. I am most comfortable with middle/right side, but I am willing to step out of my comfort zone and experiment with different positions. I take my classes seriously, so I am looking for a college where I can excel in both volleyball and academics. My future aspirations include a career in medicine.
