Personal Statement
My name is Anna Reichart and I am an outside hitter at Brookfield Schools in Brookfield,Ohio. I am a 4 year starter in the graduating class of 2022. I started playing volleyball in 5th grade on a JO team. That year I realized that volleyball was my sport and I have played club ball and for my school every year since. I continue to work on my skills on and off the court in order to be an all around front row and back row player. Not only have I improved my skills on the court but I have also worked hard off the court to keep my legs strong. Volleyball is not the only sport that I play, I play basketball as well.
In any sport, there is always a risk of injury. It's what comes next that determines the integrity of the player. When I was in 8th grade, I tore my ACL on my right leg playing softball while sliding into third base. My freshman year I tore my ACL on my left leg going up for layup during a basketball game. I later learned from my doctor that my femur in my left leg was deteriorating and I had to get a cadaver implant to fix it. Amazingly through all of this I have never missed a volleyball season. My doctor from the Cleveland Clinic released me August 2020 and has given me full clearance to pursue volleyball on a collegiate level. I have been going to therapy three days a week for three years to keep my legs strong. I continue to work with my therapist three mornings each week to maintain my strength. Through this healing process, I have learned the value of dedication, perseverance, hard work, strong mentality and most of all not taking any practice or game for granted. It is because of this journey that I push myself every day to get even better. I am 100% recovered, and stronger than ever, both physically and mentally.
Teamwork comes first in the sports that I play. If there is no teamwork, there is no chemistry on the court. As a leader, I make sure everybody is on the same page and that we all work together to win. I am competitive in everything I do. I am searching for a college that holds academics in high esteem. While attending high school I have gotten a head start on college. When I graduate in 2022, I will have 24 semester hours already accomplished. My intended major is Physical Therapy or Pre-Med.
I am committed, determined and ready for a challenge.
