Personal Statement
I discovered my passion for volleyball when I played on Lake Ridge Academy's 6th grade volleyball team. The following year, I was selected to play on the 8th grade team as a 7th grader. I was given an amazing opportunity to start on the varsity team my freshman year, which was a huge honor and has had a great impact on making me a better athlete and stronger player. I was one of the athletes chosen to be on my school's athletic leadership committee to be a role model and supporter for the other athletes. One of my most exciting experiences this past year was helping my team advance to the district finals for our division. This was the first time in the school’s history. Playing for varsity coaches and with upperclassmen, not only improved my skills, but helped me realize my desire to play in college. Their encouragement showed me the importance of leadership, team spirit and determination.
I am looking for a college program where I can achieve my goal of majoring in the medical or sports medicine fields, and allows me to share my talents as a committed athlete to make the volleyball team the best it be. As a three sport athlete, I have learned the value of being a coachable athlete, discipline, and balancing sports and schoolwork. I believe, that I not only have the skills, but the personality to compete on a college team and can have a strong impact on the program with a positive mindset, the will to strive to be the best teammate, and the dedication to become the best athlete and student I can be for the school!
