Personal Statement
Volleyball is about so much more than just a game. It is about setting goals, working as a team and challenging yourself to be the best that you can be. Every day, when I am on the court, my goal for that day is to improve from the day before. Pass better, move quicker, anticipate sooner, adjust faster, outsmart our opponents and serve my teammates better than I did the day before.
I work hard to be an asset on the court. I am a vocal leader who moves quickly and anticipates well and I am a precise and efficient passer. I believe that you play your hardest for each and every point and walk away from each set leaving it all on the court. I also believe that I will never be done learning more about this game and how to play it better. I am coach-able and responsive to instructions and direction.
Volleyball has taught me the power of teamwork. My teammates are my sisters..my dearest and closest friends. Every great accomplishment we have achieved, we achieved together. Because we believed in each other, in our coach, in our program...and we never gave up.
Two years ago, my high school volleyball team made it to the championship but came in 2nd. I was only a sophomore at the time but had the amazing opportunity to be a starter on the varsity team. My 14U club team won the CEVA regional division championship three years ago. It was an incredible experience to train and play with so many talented athletes. Currently, my 18U team is 6th in the region and we are playing in the Gold division.
I have played the starting libero position for my high school volleyball team for the past two years and we have placed 2nd in the State 5A Championship for two out of the last three years. This year I transitioned mid season to playing all around with my primary position as middle blocker. I ended the season as our Most Valuable Player and as 1st Team All Conference and 2nd Team ALL STATE for 5A. I had a 97% serving percentage, 61 kills, 29 assists 232 digs with a resulting play and 10 solo blocks resulting in a point. It has been amazing to be coached by such incredible and talented coaches. I believe at this level of play, it is our coaching and a team's faith and commitment to their coaches program that makes all the difference.
As I go through the college application and recruiting process, it is my hope to find a college whose academic and athletic focus matches my own. I would love to be able to join a strong program and do whatever I can to make our team stronger and to elevate the level of play of those around me as well as my own. I think we all achieve so much more when we play for each other.
I train each day with the hopes that I can continue my volleyball career at a college that truly values their women's volleyball program and is interested in helping to shape the lives of the women that come there to learn and to compete.
Thank you for considering me for your program.
