Personal Statement
This season, I have the honor of serving on our region's Athlete Advisory Council for the second year in a row. Here is a brief bio from last year's CEVA (Columbia Empire Volleyball Association) site:
Meet Jasmine
Name: Jasmine Sells
High School: Lincoln
Club: OJVA
Why did you want to be a member of the CAAC: Volleyball is the sport I immediately fell in love with in middle school. At the end of my 6th grade season, I joined CEVA to start club volleyball, and have enjoyed every minute of it. I wanted to join CAAC to learn not only about the management of CEVA, but also about the issues and dilemmas that the region's advisors face, and how solutions are created.
What are goals that you want to accomplish while you're on the CAAC: One of my goals is to encourage a dynamic and transparent relationship between players, coaches, and CEVA leadership. I also hope to help create more opportunities for student-athletes to be involved in their communities, and foster a stronger relationship with younger players.
What have you already learned by being being on the CAAC: During our very first meeting, I learned how much thought goes into every decision, and how complex some of the issues are. I am very excited to continue with the CAAC, as many of the members have already shed light on various matters I had not been aware of, or experienced.
