Unlike many other players I did not start playing volleyball until I was in 8th grade. Now as a junior in high school I have never once regretted my choice to play this amazing sport.
I have become attached to the rush of making the perfect play and chasing down a ball into the stands. Without volleyball I would not have learned how it feels to fail and work at something. I have always been gifted academically so I never had to put in effort at school. However, volleyball is a completely different story. I have always had to put in 110% to be accomplished at this sport and it has taught me how to work for my goals rather than sit back and do nothing.
One of my biggest challenges has been fighting to get back onto the court after taking an injury to my left ACL during the summer of 2019, and now having to go through the same problem with my right knee. As I begin to rehab back onto the court, I refuse to let this injury keep me from continuing to play the sport I love after high school.
