My name is Tomiah Jones, I attend South Florence High School in Florence, South Carolina. I have been playing volleyball for 4 years now, even though I have always had a passion for volleyball even while competing regionally with Florence Gymcamps’ traveling gymnastics club. I feel the rigors and experiences of competitive gymnastics has prepare me for my true passion, volleyball.
As a high school freshman, I made the varsity team as a season long starter. I have played all positions during my freshman, sophomore and junior years, I was a middle, outside hitter, a setter during a portion of the season and a defensive specialist. Both my sophomore and junior year I was honored to have been selected as varsity team captain and receiving post season honors as MVP.
For club, with Florence Juniors Volleyball, I made the 15u club team, starting all matches as an outside hitter and a defensive specialist. This first season, playing club ball further fueled my passion for the game. As a second year club ball participant I advanced to the 18u club level volleyball team. For the 2017 season I will play for Grand Strand Juniors National Team, I eagerly anticipate a higher level of competition this season.
My love and passion for this sport grows every year. As an eager learner, I actively seek opportunities to increase my skill and techniques by watching video and attending skills camps. I am constantly learning and wanting to know more about this sport. I can play all positions well but I focus primarily on outside and middle hitting.
One of my goals while attaining my career aspirations, is to play competitive volleyball at the college level. I feel that my work ethic, dedication, versatility, and team spirit will help me to be an asset to my team.
