Hi, my name is Nancy Ward, I have been playing volleyball for four years. I began playing volleyball in the seventh grade on my middle school junior varsity team. I started as a Middle Blocker and immediately fell in love with the position. I love the intensity, power and explosiveness of the position and being the first line of defense on the court is a challenge that I accept every time I step onto the court. I hope to continue playing the game that I love throughout high school and eventually battle in college.
Last year as a Freshman, I was double rostered on the JV and Varsity teams at Briarcrest Christian High School. Playing on the Varsity team, I helped my team win the State Championship (TN) in the TSSAA II Division. I was awarded the 2023 Coaches Award due to my coachability and good attitude on the court. I have played club volleyball for three years as a middle blocker as well, from day one I have played on the top elite teams for my age divisions. Last year while on the 15 Elite Black Team I was selected to the 2024 JVA Watchlist. I was also named to the 2024 AVCA Phenom Watchlist.
I just wrapped up my sophomore school season, I led my team in hitting percentage (.404%) and total blocks (61). I was also named to TSSAA Division II-AA West All Region and All Metro Team. I was also awarded the Academic Award and the Champions Award for exceptional leadership and contribution to my team. I am excited to start the 2025 club season with Memphis Metro Volleyball club where I just made the 16 Elite Black Team. I love the game of volleyball, and I love competing. I train hard and work even harder. I am constantly complimented on my coachability, attitude, speed, and power. Outside of volleyball practice, I also engage in personal training and strength and conditioning, fine tuning my kills and blocks every opportunity I can get.
When I am not playing volleyball, I enjoy playing basketball with friends and family. I am also a lover of music, I play three instruments including the tuba, piano and violin. Art is another passion of mine, where I have received honors and awards for my drawing and painting.
I like to learn new things and take on new opportunities for growth. My family placed an emphasis on education, so I dedicate the same drive to my studies as I do to the game of volleyball. While I have not settled on a particular university, I have grown up an SEC fan and am a little partial to SEC schools. But I like the ocean as well, so I am open to wherever volleyball takes me. I know I want to play D1 volleyball, but I am not opposed to any quality school at any division that offers an opportunity to play at a top level. My top priority is my education, so the school I choose will come down to the academics and the opportunity to pursue the degree I finally decide on.
