Personal Statement
Hi! My name is Mabry Herrmann. I've grown up in a small town surrounded by friends and family that have always supported me. I feel very blessed to be able to participate in most sports because of the small size of my school. I'm currently in the top 10 percentile of my class and was accepted into GeoFORCE, a competitive geology program through the University of Texas.
Hardwork comes natural to me as I have grown up with parents that have a very strong work ethic, which has been instilled into me. This has helped carry over into my athletic practice and drive for the game, along with my academic studies. My parents and coaches have set high expectations for me and I work very hard until I reach them. My competitive nature drives and motivates me to put in the extra work needed to accomplish the outcomes I want.
Although I've played many sports, volleyball has become my greatest joy. Playing volleyball for 8 years, and counting, I have developed a love for the game that keeps me striving for improvement at every opportunity. My freshman year I was on the varsity team and we advanced to the regional 1A tournament. My sophomore year holds one of my greatest memories: competing in the 1A state tournament. My junior year my season ended at the regional semifinal. I try to be an encouraging teammate on and off the court. I've found that positive reinforcement on the court and keeping the right perspective and goals in mind is what helps our team the most. Most importantly, I play because I love it and try to have fun in every game.
Above all, I give God the credit for where I am now and wherever I go. I have a strong belief in Jesus and my Christianity has resulted in a lot of volunteer work and the mindset of being kind to everyone.
