Personal Statement
** I have committed to University of Montana and am no longer interested in other opportunities **
I come from a volleyball family, as my twin brother currently plays for Excel volleyball club and my dad played volleyball in college, so I have grown up around the sport and gotten to know the game inside and out. This early exposure to volleyball has made me extremely competitive, along with allowing me to see the game from a perspective that many cannot. It is because of this, along with experience in many different positions, that I have grown into a very smart and crafty setter.
Academics have always been very important to me. I have worked hard to find a balance between school and volleyball, and I feel like I have done so by maintaining straight A's in honors classes while also competing at a high level in both school and club volleyball. My goal has always been to play collegiate volleyball at an academically competitive school, and I work very hard everyday to try and reach my goals. I believe I am a good candidate for your team because I am a consistently high performer, very coachable, and stay grade eligible so I am always ready to play. I always try to be a leader, motivating my teammates on and off the court, and I am also very dedicated to improving my skills every chance I get.
Something that makes me unique is that throughout my volleyball career, I have played OH, DS, L, OPP, and S, which has allowed me to develop a well-rounded set of skills. Following the guidance of many coaches, I transitioned to focus on S/RS during my 15’s season, and I worked my way up to becoming starting setter on a top north Texas club, in addition to earning a 2 year varsity starting position at top ranked Reedy High School.
