Sydney Huck '22 Recruiting Profile

Hello coaches!  My name is Sydney Huck, and I am a 6-Rotation Outside Hitter for the class of 2022.  I have played volleyball since I was 9 years old.  I started in a rec league then moved to club volleyball at the age of 10.  I was a bit undersized when I was younger so I decided to be as technically sound as I could until my height caught up with my will.  I trained for a few years with Coach Ruth Nelson where I worked on my technique.  I played mostly right side and a little outside until my 14’s year where I moved to Dallas Arsenal and switched to being a 6-Rotation Outside Hitter.  I’m glad I decided to switch and that my coaches allowed me to because I really enjoy the position.  I like being more a part of the game and being able to do pretty much every aspect of it.
As for my high school career, I was one of only two players to make Varsity as a freshman.  I have made Academic All-District all three years.  I went on to make First Team All-District in both my sophomore and junior years.  My junior year, our team got further in playoffs than any other team in school history.
I am the team captain for my club team this year and I am a team leader on my high school team and I believe in leading by example.  I am a supportive and encouraging teammate and very coachable player.  I don't make excuses when I make mistakes and I don’t dwell on it but rather focus on making the next play better.  I have a positive attitude and strong work ethic and I encourage my teammates to be the same.
I love to bake and hang out with my family and friends.  I’m a bit shy until you get to know me.  I have a witty sense of humor and I love to have fun on the court but I work hard and get the job done.
My ultimate goal is to play competitive college volleyball while earning my college degree.  I am searching for the best blend of high level volleyball and academic excellence.  I am undecided on a major at this time but I am interested in psychology and forensic psychology.
I know it takes hard work, dedication, passion and determination to be successful at the next level.  I believe I have the ability, skill and technique to succeed and would be a great asset to your program.
