Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Emily Carpenter and I attend Prairie Valley High School in Nocona, Tx. I am a 5'6 DS/OH/S. For my high school team I am a setter and outside hitter. For my club team I am a defensive specialist and outside hitter. I feel my versatility is a strength that sets me apart from many other players. Athletics has always played a major role in my life. From an early age I have been a part of different sports teams, learning many skills that have helped me develop into the player I am today. Soccer, dance, volleyball, basketball, cross country, softball and track have each brought a skill set I have needed to learn. While I enjoy all sports, volleyball is what I love the most.
I aspire to attend a college that I can earn a degree in agriculture. Growing up on a farm has taught me the value of hard work. From raising bottle calves and feeding cows to helping with wheat harvest and hay production, I have had the privilege of learning many skills including work ethic, teamwork, time management and problem solving. All of which have been very useful in both my academic and athletic endeavors. I hope to one day put all those skills to use helping other farm families with a degree in soil science.
Academically, I pride myself in being diligent in my studies. I know that good study habits can and will determine your success. I understand the value of academics but also believe that academics alone do not determine your future success. I take pride in my grades because I know how much hard work went into earning those grades. At the same time I understand that all learning, rather it be in the classroom, sports arena or family farm will truly shape the person I am and will become.
