Brooklyn Johnson '19 Recruiting Profile

Thank you for taking the time to preview my profile. I love Volleyball! I know you might hear that from every girl on this site, however, I recently had the chance to prove it. I have been involved in the sport of Volleyball since I was 9 years old. I began my first club season as a starting outside hitter and played all around. I continued in this position for many years and then eventually switched to Defensive Specialist/Libero. At the end of the 2016 season I knew that I needed a break. I felt that I had lost my passion and drive for the sport and needed time to reevaluate whether I wanted to continue. I made the decision not to try out for High School or Club during the 2016/2017 season but in order to stay on the court I decided to coach an 11 year old volleyball team. As soon as the season started I knew that I missed it! Unfortunately, I had already missed a season of High School volleyball and I was committed to coaching so I was not able to play on a club team.  When the 2017 tryouts started at the High School I knew I was ready to come back and had regained my passion for the sport. Its true that you never know what you have until you have lost it. I attend a 6A high school school so I knew there was a good chance that I would not be selected for a team because I had not played the prior year and there were hundreds of girls trying out. Thankfully, my coach recognized my drive and ability and I was able to rejoin the team.    It was a great season and our team went undefeated.  I also tried out for club and again made the National traveling team. My greatest desire is to continue the sport into college as I cannot imagine once again giving up the sport that I love.
