Music City & MAPL...In visiting college campuses, I've learned I want to attend a school with a strong academic reputation, rich in tradition and spirit and a sense of community. I see myself helping people in my future career. How exactly, I'm not sure. I just know that it's really important that I'm able to help people better themselves and their lives.
What makes me unique? First, I don't quit, never have. I lead my teammates by example. I work hard, am focused when I need to be and am silly when its time to relax. My teammates like and respect me because I respect them. For me, it's all about the team and the team's success, not mine personally. You won't see me yelling at my teammates, but you may see me set someone straight if they're being unkind or unfair to a teammate. I will stand up for what is right.
Coaches have always said I have a high volleyball IQ for my age and experience. I just "get it". I can see what I need to do. I've always been able to apply a new skill to different situations and make a smart play. Where other players can't control their emotions or "energy" during an intense moment, that's when I'M AT MY BEST. I'm the one you want serving at game point or the hitter that gets the set, I WILL put it away.
Academically, I'm the "worker bee". I'm not the gifted one or the student with the photographic memory and that's okay. I work for what I earn and I do well. That's a good thing, in my opinion. It prepares me for real life. I have no problem working for what I want. Maybe thats the most important thing you need to know about me.
Thanks for taking the time to read over my "Personal Statement."
