Personal Statement
My preschool teacher Claudia told me I was the first kid to go back and forth across the monkey bars in her 19 years of teaching. Since then I’ve felt like the sky is the limit for me in sports and I bring that energy to my teams. I have excelled in soccer, basketball and volleyball. Volleyball became my focus at age 14. Since then I have lead teams to many victories including 2017 USAV High Performance Puget Sound Regional Bronze Champions, 2017 and 2018 Emerald City Classic Bronze Champions, 2019 Far Western National Qualifier USA Silver Champions, WIAA State Championships 2018 and 2019, 1st Team King co. 2019, All-State Team 2019 and several 1st place regional tournament championships. I was high school team captain my senior year. We went 22-1! Playing MB the last five years for our region's top volleyball clubs has been an awesome experience. My current U-18 Sudden Impact Team is going to do great things this season!
Attending four different elementary schools from Kindergarten to 5th grade was challenging. It was never easy starting over again with friends and new environments, yet the experience has instilled my ability to adapt and make new friends. I've been in advanced learning programs since 1st grade. It feels great to succeed in college-level classes in high school. I scored a 4 on my AP Human Geography exam sophomore year and the same in AP Stats junior year. I have always been confident about my athleticism and now I am finally realizing my academic strength too! I know this will serve me well in life. I’m excited about where I land as a college athlete and I know I have what it takes to achieve goals and enjoy the journey.
Thank you,
Maya
