Julia Leggett '14 Recruiting Profile

I've been driven to succeed since I was in the 5th grade, shortly after the time that I developed a disease called Alopecia Universalis.  Many people think I have cancer, but I don't...I just can't grow hair.  I've been playing club volleyball, and tournament softball for the past seven years, with success in both sports.  Just this last Fall, I made the hard decision of choosing one college sport, and it came down to the sport that I would miss the most, and that is volleyball.  I have always loved competition, and I've pushed myself to work hard, and play hard.  I've won several awards in volleyball between school ball, club ball, and college camps.  I finished my senior high school volleyball season with a 92% serve receive, and 97% serving, scoring within the top four on the team.  I've strived to have the best grades and be involved in leadership projects so I can be a good candidate for college.  I've proven that I'm not going to hide in a corner because of my disease, but to embrace every moment.  As I've become more aware of college just around the corner, I've been trying to determine what interest me.  Lately I've been studying people.  I wonder, "What makes them tick? Why did they react that way?  What's going on in their life?"  Based on these observations, I feel that Psychology would be a good fit for me - perhaps Child Psychology, because of my own personal experience.  In summation, it's been an exciting, challenging road that I've traveled so far, and I'm looking forward to a new challenge, playing college volleyball! - (There's more live footage listed on BeRecruited.com.)
