I won't lie and say I've always loved volleyball. Being an all-around athlete, volleyball has to be one of my favorite sports. Especially coming from a family of volleyball players, it wouldn't be a surprise for me to fall in love with the sport as my family did. But that just wasn't the case from elementary up to the end of 8th grade. It's safe to say that I don't regret playing soccer all those years but I feel guilty for pursuing a sport I barely felt passionate for. Volleyball changed who I am as an athlete and a person overall. As a setter and co-captain, I learned what it's like to consider your teammates on and off the court; how they like their set, mindset, attitude, limits, and capabilities. And as an athlete I have learned what it's like to be hooked onto a sport so much, you could care less about whether you lose or not. Because for me, volleyball isn't about winning or losing but the number of times you're able to step foot on that court and play. Since I began the sport late in my educational process, I have a limited amount of time to play; never knowing which game will be my last. As much as I know academics and the career I want to do later in my life are essential for my future, with the time I have for volleyball right now, and maybe later, I want to make the most out of it.
