Personal Statement
Hi my name is Cindy Nguyen and I am currently a senior at Rainier Beach High School, I have been playing softball since I was a freshman in 2019. When I tried out for softball I had zero experience and zero knowledge about the game, but I stepped out on to the field following the drils and playing ball, I impressed my coaches because of my spirit on the field, because when I play I make it known that they remember me, my mindset during tryouts was to prove to my coaches that I deserve the spot on the team, and that I am a team player that shows appreciation after every play a team member has done. I was recruited on to the varsity team for Rainier Beach because my coaches were impressed how I got it quick as someone who didn't have any experience playing softball.
Throughout freshman and junior year playing softball, I had a deeper respect for softball because it taught me to be even more driven and eager to learn and improve my skills, and it also taught me what my responsibility was like as a team captain. I have so much love for the game and the skills to prove so. Even though my experience is short it's not going to stop me from wanting to grow as a student athlete. I have the athleticism, strong physically and mentally, I'm a student athlete that has the potential and the growth mindset, you need a hype woman I'm she, and lastly I'm a student doing full IB, has been doing honors since freshman year, check my transcript and you can see that I've maintained a 3.8 or higher throughout my years, except for sophomore year in one semester, but I bounced back with a 4.0 second semester.
I have the mentality and the strength for this and I'm ready to take on what's meant for me.
