Personal Statement
I began playing club when I was 11 years old, then joined the Sudden Impact VBC on the U12 team the following year. Sudden Impact has close ties to the University of Washington program so we get a lot of training with current and former players, as well as coaches that have been part of the UW staff over the years. Being part of a club that trains athletes to compete at the college level, while also focusing on becoming a better person and teammate is challenging me to improve myself each and every day.
My goal, every time I step on the floor is to make my team mates better. Playing with the Dakine Beach VBC has improved my all around game and it shows in the way that I run the floor as a setter. I can make every set needed in system - and I am very good at running hitters out of system so the team is able to get attack swings rather than sending over a free ball. We run an up-tempo offense and put continuous pressure on our opponents.
I have won Championships both indoor (Sudden Impact 16 Thunder - MHM Classic - 2019) and on the beach (15U AVP First Zonal Qualifier, Seaside, OR - 2018). My 15-Typhoon team finished 5th in the American Division at Nationals in 2018. My 16-Thunder team won our regional bid tournament and earned a bid to Nationals.
I attend West Seattle High School and have been a Varsity starter and team captain since my Freshman Year. I was named to the Metro League First Team as a setter all three years. As a Sophomore we advanced to the District Tournament for the first time in 5 years and went again my Junior year. Entering my Senior season I was named to the AVCA Under Armour All-American Watch List.
I’m looking for a college program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on a high level program.
