Personal Statement

My name is Sadie and I am a part of the class of 2026 at Clinton Jr/Sr High School in Clinton, Wisconsin. I started playing volleyball when I was 10 years old. One of my favorite parts about volleyball is being able to make new friendships and learn the game even more. I am always looking for new ways to improve my skills, especially during camps and practices. A goal of mine has always been to play volleyball in college as well as pursuing my dream of becoming a Teacher, or Behavioral Analyst.  I believe that I am a hard worker and a positive person in both school and on the volleyball court. I see myself as a leader on and off the court. I always want to see my teammates reach their full potential and be their biggest cheerleader. I have been fortunate to be a starter on my High School Volleyball team both my Freshman and Sophomore years.

Defense - Aggressive as a defender. Good read on the attack and defensive positioning, and seems to enjoy making the play. Tactical Abilities - 81 / 100 Defensive Awareness - Understands defensive systems and strategy, shows understanding of positioning and angles. Scrimmage Play - Play was elevated in team activities. Great understanding of your roles and responsibilities within a team. Physical Abilities - 81 / 100 Agility - Showed good agility. Good body positioning and footwork helped you change directions quickly. Balance - Seemed to handle the challenges you faced well. Good job staying in your position and helping teammates where needed. Mental Abilities - 81 / 100 Team Player - Great team-first attitude. Was encouraging and supportive to teammates throughout camp. Passion For The Game - Brings energy to every session that was contagious. Great approach to the game! Coach's Comments Great disposition and a pleasure to work with at camp. Sadie always had a smile and exhibited excellent poise during the drills and scrimmage. As a 2026 grad, she still has time to develop a more explosive jump and quicker arm swing. Sadie has the potential to become a solid collegiate player! Being an explosive athlete will help your offense tremendously. Jumping quicker and higher for any set that is given to you -- on the net, off the net, low, super high -- will allow you to get to the ball more efficiently and effectively. Having a quick arm swing with a heavy hand will mean a faster hit ball. I recommend incorporating box jumps, plyometrics, and weight training into your weekly schedule. When you put these factors together, your offense power increases. Terminating your sets is the main objective for hitters, no matter the scenario, no matter the set! The ability to hit 1st and 2nd tempo sets will add to your offensive repertoire, as well as increase your ability to outmaneuver your opponents and score points. Continue to build on the middle hitter drills we worked on: transitioning from a block to the ten-foot line right into a quick play. Make sure you and the ball are going into the setter at the same time and that your spacing is accurate ("don't pass the setter's belly button"). Being consistent and strong in each phase of passing are key to possibly transitioning to a pin hitter, like a RS -- which is what many high school middles do in college. Continue developing the passing and back-row side of your game! One needs to be able to purposefully pass the ball with accuracy and control, no matter the scenario. It will definitely help with college recruiting too!
