Thank you so much for reading my profile!
My name is Sami Leach, class of 2014. I am a left-handed, fast, driven, competitive, 5'8" setter/opp, that is also plays ds when needed. As a lefty, I have played primarily OPP for most of my volleyball career, as well as the secondary setter.
I am a three-sport varsity athlete and have been since sophomore year. I am a two-year state-qualifier in high jump, 4x100 relay and 4x200 relay. I hold school records in HJ and the 4x200m relay and was voted all-conference this past basketball season.
Playing multiple, complementary sports has helped mold me as a fierce competitor; helped me maintain tremendous work ethic, and helped allow me to appreciate how important it is to be a great player, but even more importantly, to be a great teammate. While I enjoy playing all three sports, volleyball is the sport that I love to play - and would love the opportunity to play at the next level.
I do not back away from challenges. For example, for this club season, rather than stay with my club/team (which I absolutely loved) as an OPP, I chose to switch clubs, play a higher level of competition in a new position, with a team that was already very well established (I am the only new player this year). This transition has made me a much more well-rounded player, increased my volleyball I.Q. and has helped me better utilize my athleticism and speed. The team dynamics are challenging, but I know I have learned more as a setter this club season than I could have with any other team/coach this club season. My only regret is that playing a 6/2 hasn't allowed me to utilize my 2nd ball attack in many game situations and I feel I am a very effective attacker.
I hope to find a great college fit both academically and athletically and work towards a business/accounting degree with further aspirations to pursue my MBA. I would love to play at the highest level possible and am open to any great opportunity which would allow me to do so. I would like to play and contribute - knowing I need to earn my spot but not get swallowed up in too huge of a program. Above all, I want to remain a strong/ positive role model for my younger brothers and sister - and honestly, continue to make my family proud.
You will not find a harder working athlete. Please feel free to contact any of my coaches, as well as view my profile on my club's website:
