I first experienced volleyball when I was very young and watched my older siblings play. In 5th grade, I became a manager for Seneca's High School teams, which I continued through 6, 7 & 8th grades. These early years gave me a lot of time to learn the in's and out's of volleyball. I scrimmaged as a 7th and 8th grader against the varsity players. This time spent in the gym, with additional time on my own in club volleyball, is what lead me to become a varsity starter and key team player my Freshman year of high school. The highlight of my high school career so far has been competing at the WIAA State Tournament in 2016. The games leading up to the state tournament really inspired me to give it my all and persevere. I realized during those games that each loss we had taken in the past was preparing us for the struggles we would face in other games as well as our futures in general. I had to overcome mental challenges, such as, a frustrating moment or trying to keep the energy up, for others around me, when the game seemed bleak. I was honored when our conference coaches recognized my ability as a junior and named me Conference Player of the Year.
My goals academically would be to continue my 4.0 GPA throughout my entire high school career and to graduate as valedictorian of my class. In college, I would like to pursue a career in a science or technology field while playing volleyball. I have received incredible experience by working with others through volleyball, and discovered new, challenging ways to push myself to become a leader not only on the court but in the classroom and community as well.
