Personal Statement

Theodore Roosevelt once said, “Believe you can and you’re halfway there.” A few years ago, I made a personal commitment to be the best "me" that I can be. I practice mindfulness and gratitude to remind myself to always be present in the moment and to never take anything for granted.  At the same time, I set goals and use a combination of visualization, determination, and hard work to achieve them. "Thoughts are things" is the mantra I grew up with and it is this process that ultimately defines me.

I have been playing volleyball since my 8th-grade year and plan to continue playing in college while furthering my education in the mental health field. Thank you for your interest in me as a prospective recruit. I promise that I will give you, the team, and myself my best effort.

I have many family members who coach at the high school and collegiate levels and some who have also competed athletically at the collegiate levels and beyond. Most notably are my cousins Eric Decker, who had a very successful career in the NFL, and Jake McCabe who currently plays for the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL. I also had the privilege of watching my brother become a successful D1 Football player for the UW-Madison Badgers. Through his journey, I was able to truly understand how mentally strong you need to be. His commitment, drive, and determination are what began my journey.

While volleyball is a large part of who I am, I am also passionate about my education and helping people. My love for everyone is what leads to my desire to work in the psychology/mental health field. I am truly fascinated by the mind and how we become who we are. How every thought and/or experience makes us who we are. I believe that kindness, understanding, and belief are the keys to happiness. Something that all humans should be able to experience.

I'm looking forward to having the opportunity to speak with you about furthering both my education and my volleyball career with you and your team!

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
