My name is Gwen Postma. I started playing water polo 4 years ago and it has been my passion ever since. I was (reluctantly) elected as goalie by my teammates, but quickly realized my talent and began to own it and love it. I am starting goalie for the top-ranked Channel Islands United 16U Gold team and have participated in 4 Junior Olympics with them as well as playing internationally in Canada. We placed 2nd in the 2025 Junior Olympics qualifying tournament for the CA Coastal Zone, where I had 65 blocks, 6 assists and 10 steals over 6 games. As a freshman last year at Carpinteria High school I was placed as starting Varsity goalie, helping lead the team as Citrus Coast League champions with a league record of (8-0). I was honored to be named 1st Team All-League and had a total of 170 blocks, 27+ assists and 26+ steals in 22 games. I was selected for the ODP Development national championship team in 2023 and the ODP Cadet national championship team in 2025.
Being in both club and high school water polo has challenged me and taught me to balance training year round with the commitment of high academic achievement. I love learning, growing, improving and playing water polo with my friends. I am not sure of my collegiate goals yet, but I would love to learn more.
