My name is Ariel Cordova and I’m a part of the 2023 class at Long Beach Polytechnic High School in Long Beach, CA. My life is centered around being an athlete and I am glad it is. I enjoy working hard every day in water polo because I have a passion for it. I started playing water polo my freshman year after doing club swimming for 10 years and I immediately knew that water polo was the sport for me. I was on JV my freshman year and played varsity sophomore year. I joined SOCAL’s 16U team in the beginning of my junior year (in the fall session) and I became a starter on varsity junior season. I sometimes wish I started earlier because I know I would have more opportunities but I’ve learned that I just have to use the resources I have to become the best player I can be. My growth in two years is one of my greatest athletic achievements. I continue to see improvement in my skill, endurance, and confidence every time I get in the water. I train every practice like it is a game. I know that I haven’t reached my potential and I am fortunate to have so many opportunities to grow and learn. I hope to play at a Division 1 college and major in business and psychology.
