My name is Isaiah Schannep. I discovered wrestling when I was in second grade. Wrestling came somewhat easy to me. I did well in other sports previously, but wrestling just gave me a thrill and a different satisfaction than any other sport. The summer prior to my freshman year I decided to live with my biological father. Unfortunately he did not agree for me to continue to wrestle. I was truly devastated. Wrestling was more to me than just a sport. Wrestling was my life. Wrestling kept me grounded. Wrestling taught me discipline and how to be a dedicated worker on the mat and in the classroom . That year was the toughest year of my life. Having wrestling taken from me caused me to become less motivated in all areas. My grades suffered and my happiness did as well. That was when I truly realized just how much love for the sport I had. My passion for wrestling is undeniable. I am a highly dedicated student-athlete. I earned the position of captain of the varsity team as a Sophomore. I have outstanding qualities as a leader and strive to motivate those around me. I am self motivated and am one of the most devoted and hardest workers. I am not afraid to put in the extra work to promote my skills and become successful. I envision my college years to be a personal growth period for me. My goal is to explore a science major that will position me well for becoming a physical therapist. On the mat, I plan to be a dynamic wrestler and a positive influence for the team. As I grow both physically and mentally throughout my wrestling career, I will strive to be an asset to the team. Most importantly, I will conduct myself with honor and the upmost respect on the mat, knowing that the way I carry myself reflects on my coaches, my team and my school.
Update: I went to RMN Freakshow in Idaho. First match since last February. I made some mistakes that I can work on. I placed 6th.
