Amara Labonog '21 Recruiting Profile

Softball is basically my life, which drives me every day.  It turns my day into something bigger and better. But it's not the only sport I play.   I am also involved with my volleyball team at school, where this past season we took first place overall.  I like to lead by voice and example.  I have a way of getting people up when I sense they are down.  I give that boost of courage when someone makes mistakes by always hearing my positive voice.  I am very committed to my school whether it’s with Leadership,  AVID  or WEB. They all benefit me to become a better person with the community and in school.  I was also elected school Treasurer, which shows how much faith my fellow students have in me.   Also, I am very determined to go to school to kinesiology or a pediatrician. I truly love helping kids and just making sure everyone stays healthy!

I feel with all that I mentioned above will lead me to be a positive on any team, whether it is sports or at work.  I listen well and work hard to apply what is taught to me.  Coaches tell me that I'm 'coachable' so I take that as I'm a hard worker.  This is in everything I do.

I understand the importance of education.  I work hard on my schooling, making sure that I just do the work just to do it, but do it so I have complete understanding of it all.  I enjoy learning.  I love to be competitive.  I hope that will make me a strong person in the future.

I hope you enjoyed reading my Personal Statement.  I enjoyed writing it though it does make me uncomfortable taking about myself.  But my grandma tells me that being confident is not being cocky.  I take that to heart.
