Hunter vs New Mex...
Full Match
Clip #3I've been wrestling since pee wees and have always been a really competitive individual. My Dad wrestled in college (he was a Div 2 National Champion and 2x All American) and has been wrestling with me and my brother for as long as I can remember - so it's always been a big part of my life. I attend a small high school in rural Colorado and have worked hard to find opportunities around me to get better. This year (2024) was the first time our county has had club wrestling available to us - I signed up as soon as I could.
My work ethic and willingness to keep showing up are some of my best qualities. The best way to know this is through a short recap of my seasons to date. I started out my Freshman year on the varsity team wrestling 106's. I weighed in just a little over 90 lbs. and almost qualified for Regionals but placed 5th in a wrestle back. I wrestled at 106 again my Sophomore year and suffered a rib injury halfway through the season that took me out for a long while. I continued to travel everywhere with the team and I fought back from my injury just in time for Regionals where I re-injured my ribs. My Junior year I went up to 113 lbs. but didn't quite fill it out. I got in touch with a nutritionist who worked with my diet to help me gain weight and I started reading books about mindset, which helped a lot this season - I placed 3rd at Regionals and went to State. I'm determined to make this last high school season my best. I've committed to several camps with outstanding clinicians, am focusing on my diet and weight so I'm primed to go, and I'm wrestling in as many tournaments as I can this Summer.
I know many colleges want someone who is well rounded - but the truth is I have put all I have into wrestling every moment I can, and I've enjoyed every second of it. I watch film (myself and others), analyze stats, spend time lifting at the gym, read books about mindset, and wrestle whenever I can. In my spare time I ref wrestling for youth tournaments. I keep up good grades - with most Math and Science classes more interesting to me than others. My intention is to get a Business degree.
Thank you for taking the time to read a little about me.
