As a person who's grew up only playing sports like football, baseball, and basketball. My younger self would be astonished that my main sport would be wrestling in high school. It started off with going to wrestling practice my first week just to mess around with my friends. Then it became a month of seeing my physique becoming more toned. Next thing I knew I was standing at the Florida State Wrestling Championships podium. The process from unexperienced freshman to being a state placer as a senior was no easy road in the slightest. I understood that starting as a freshman I would be at a disadvantage to wrestlers who's wrestled their whole lives. This pushed me beyond what I was capable of in order to catch up and surpass my competitors. I worked out and ran after practices even when I was exhausted, I dieted, did extra reps at practices, and traveled to different camps and practices during summer. Even though I think I've done a lot in putting in hard work. I feel like I have more to prove to myself, my family, and my friends. Not just in wrestling, but to thrive in life as-well. Wrestling has already given memorable life lessons about accountability, sustainability, and to maintain a strong character and mindset. As long as god gives me another day to live I'll keep improving physically, mentally, and spiritually.
