In 2014, while I was in the sixth grade, is when I started my wrestling career. My first two years of competing were very difficult and challenging to say the least. My record was 1 win and 23 losses within that time period. My wrestling coaches would always tell me that it was a 3 year commitment and that I needed to "Trust the Process". In 2016, I enrolled at St. Pauls High School as an 8th grader and immediately started working with the wrestling team. I believed in myself and my coaches and knew if I put the work in, good things would happen. In the 2017/2018 season, as a freshman, I had the opportunity to wrestle 14 matches in the 138 pound weight class. With that opportunity to wrestle on the varsity team , I won 7 matches. In the 2018/2019 season as a sophomore, I placed 3rd in the Junior Varsity state tournament in the 152 pound weight class .
Until this school year, (2019/2020), I have been a dual sport athlete, splitting my time playing football and wrestling. I have made my decision to focus 100% of my time to the sport of wrestling. Even though the beginning of my career was very trying and painful, I wouldn't have changed the results one bit. Through the struggles, I learned valuable life lessons about perseverance, dedication, sacrifice and hard work. I'm looking for a college and a coach that will help me attain my goals academically, as well as athletically. I know I have what it takes to succeed on the mat and in life, and would love the opportunity to wrestle in your collegiate program.
Sincerely,
Blain M. Cascio
