During the 2017-2018 season at Newton High School, I had my first taste of the varsity wrestling experience, and I wanted more. This 2018-2019 season, I grabbed a varsity spot at 120lbs. However, I have been bumping around between the 120lbs and 126lbs weight classes to either go against the tougher wrestler with the trust from my coach in order to save team points or go against the easier wrestler in order to maximize team points. I would do anything for this team and program, even if it means taking a forfeit. No matter the challenge, I will be up to it. I am not only focused on wrestling, and my parents remind me everyday that school work comes first. For college, I would love to continue playing sports, and I would like to major in either agriculture (ex. forestry, land conservation, wildlife conservation and more) or meteorology. I love the outdoors, and I see beauty in nature. I have a love for environmental science and mathematics, which I hope to be my future major and career.
It all started in Kindergarten when I saw my older brother, Johnny (20 years-old), wrestle. Johnny and I always butted heads, whether it was playing video games, wrestling, competing in sports or grades. I was determined to be better than him, and he never made it easy. I had to strive, fight and work hard. Although, Johnny and I have a great relationship now, compared to a few years ago, we have a very strong bond and I cannot thank him enough for my success. He has put me in the position I am in now, being a young fifteen-year-old sophomore challenging myself to take harder classes and work harder in the wrestling room.
