Personal Statement

My name is Cory Filley, I am a 6 foot 210 pound Catcher/3b,1b,OF from Dade City, Florida. I have been playing baseball since the age of 2. I enjoy every aspect of the game and am a natural born hitter.

As a top of the lineup hitter, I hit for power driving the ball gap to gap. At the plate I am very hitterish while being hard to strike out. I understand the importance of putting the ball in play with 2 strikes and am a very good situational hitter.

My primary position is catcher however I am equally as talented at both corners of the infield and outfield. Behind the plate, I have a very strong arm and can block any ball in the dirt.

I am a leader both on an off the field. My teams success is equally as important as my own. My positive team player attitude makes me a good fit for any baseball organization. It has been a life long goal for me has been to play baseball at the next level and I am confident I will see that through.

Cory Filley is a 2022 C/RHP, 3B with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from Dade City, FL who attends Pasco HS. Recorded a 7.62 second 60-yard dash time. Medium frame with a compact build and strength well-proportioned throughout. Primary catcher who receives with two hands out in front and gains ground well. Low slot release and has a very quick movements with a best recorded pop time of 1.94 seconds. Arm strength plays well from secondary position of first base. Secondary righthanded pitcher with a shorter stride, loose arm, and a three-quarters arm slot. Gets some arm side run on the fastball and has drop and drive lower half actions. Works both halves well and flashed a tight slider with late break. Switch hitter with a wide base, high hand set, high back elbow, and a slightly open start. Short swing with a flat bat path. Strength to the middle of the field with quality bat speed and performed best from the right side. Great student.

Cory Filley is a 2022 C/RHP, 3B with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from Dade City, FL who attends Pasco. Ran a 7.93 second 60 yard dash. A primary catcher, with a physical strong build, starts with a side saddle stance, does a nice job gaining ground into his throws with a short arm action resulting in a 2.12 second pop time. On the mound in a quick one inning outing he sat 82-84 mph with his fastball from a full arm action working to a high three-quarters arm slot, mixed in a curveball in the low 70's with good depth as he landed it for strikes with potential for even better bite with matched fastball arm speed. In the infield his hands work firm out front with a short arm action as he gets on top off the ball with accurate throws across the diamond. At the plate, his righthanded swing starts with high hands, he showed a level bat path through the zone working mostly to the pull side with an exit velocity of 89 mph. Very good student.
