Personal Statement
For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to play baseball at the collegiate level and beyond. I have committed and worked hard for 13 years to accomplish this goal. As a catcher and middle infielder, I enjoy being a captain on the field. I believe a strong baseball IQ is essential in addition to your physical ability. As a rising junior and eventual 4 year starter on the Maclay School varsity team, I am a vital leader on and off the field. Lifting, throwing, and hitting in the offseason are important aspects of getting better. My school provides the opportunity for me to do all of these year round and I take full advantage of that.
I work on baseball development all year however, I also play other sports (football and soccer) to develop my overall athleticism. I believe the strength, speed and agility from these sports have helped me grow as a baseball player.
Playing baseball is very important to me but my success in the classroom is equally important. An injury can end a sports career in a second, but a degree will last a lifetime. My family has always emphasized the importance of education and my development as a student.
I will be a great addition for any team because of my hard work in the classroom and on the field. I am coachable, always wanting to learn and I understand that there will always be room for improvement.
