Updated Fall 2024...
Highlights PBR No...I am Alexander (Alex) Strapko, a smart rising-senior and talented multi-sport athlete who attends Upper Canada College in Toronto, Ontario. While baseball is my #1 sport, as a Sophomore I also played three other sports for my high-school, including; Jr Varsity Football as a slotback/WR, U16 Ice Hockey as a forward/LW, and Varsity Lacrosse as a FO/MF.
At 6'2 and 175 pounds, I am a versatile OF/Utility player and a talented lead-off switch hitter and baserunner. I was selected as the #1 pick overall for my organization's Fall-ball all-star team by Coach JB (John Bethune).
This fall I have returned to play for my former Coach Rob Butler (1993 World Series Champion). I am looking forward to a break-out Fall 2024 season on the 18U Clarington Orioles as I have really improved my Switch Hitting and Speed.
I started playing baseball when I was 4 years old, and have been training and hitting with former MLB brothers Rich and Rob Butler since the age of 8.
While my coaches originally thought I was a natural smooth-swinging left-handed hitter like John Olerud, during the Covid pandemic, we experimented with switch-hitting, and last season, I hit .800 against left-handed pitching from the right side of the plate.
One of my best stats from last season was Zero (0) fielding errors, which I attribute to my laser-focused mindset while playing in the outfield. While on the field, I remain entirely focused on tracking the ball off the bat and fielding/catching the ball, which enables me to excel on the field.
Academically, I am equally dedicated, working hard to complete assignments on time while juggling the rigorous workload of an IB program, which can be challenging while playing three sports. Despite this, my commitment to both academics and athletics has not gone unnoticed. Following a recent parent-teacher interview, my math teacher praised me, writing to parents, "Alex is one of those people who gives me hope for the future. He is just a genuinely kind and considerate young man. He works hard and doesn't expect things for nothing. He is one of the ‘good ones’. He would be one of my life boat picks for sure!”
Overall, I am a smart student-athlete and baseball player who is just as dedicated to academics as athletics, and looking for a top-College and an opportunity to learn from great coaches in a best-of-class baseball program where I can continue to develop and rise to the top.
