August 2017As a boy growing up in Toronto, I was encouraged to play hockey. But baseball was the sport I fell in love with. The fact that a game could force you to work on both the physical and mental sides almost equally was a big part of my interest.
As someone who has played on both sides of the field my entire life up to this point, a lot of thought went into my choice to stay on the mound. I feel most comfortable being in control of the game, trying to outsmart hitters, not overpower them.
I have learned more from baseball than, I believe, anything else. It has helped me in terms of character, discipline and self-awareness. I love playing the game, thinking about the game and training so I can be better for my next game. All of the work has paid off so far. My strength, work ethic, and discipline have never been higher and I am excited to continue to grow.
