After playing baseball for over 10 years and competing in events like the Little League World Series and in the playoff rounds at Jupiter, I am 100% sure I want to compete on the college stage. I currently play on the Ontario Blue Jays and was named to the high honours group of the Preseason Perfect Game Underclass All Americans. Growing up with baseball in my life has played a massive role in developing the character and man I have become today. I believe I bring numerous characteristics that would make me a strong asset for your team.
One of my main traits is my competitiveness. In everything I do, I always want to compete. Rather than being content with doing well or complacent with winning easily, I found myself happiest with having a battle and giving it my all. Many of my coaches in all my sports have said I always lay myself out there, maybe even a little too much at times. This really came to light as I started playing in the Canadian Premier Baseball League on a team around 450km from home, just for a more competitive baseball environment. Playing on club teams over 400km away from my house also has helped me become a hardworking, responsible and self-driven baseball player. Without trainers nearby, it was up to me to ensure I never skipped a workout or gave a half effort rep. With no coaches to help me train, I learned to research and experiment with my mechanics. Training away from the team helped me become a responsible and self-motivated athlete, capable of becoming better without requiring constant supervision. Coaches on my team had often noticed and mentioned dedication as they saw my rapid physical and mechanical progression.
When it comes to school, I bring all the same traits as I do on the field. I work my hardest in the class and always seek the hardest courses for me. After being identified as gifted and attending gifted only classes from grades four to eight, I went to the IB program at Colonel By, the third highest academically ranking school in Ontario. At the school I had a 92% average in grade 9 and an 89.4% average in Grade 10 while playing on the volleyball team and being the captain and MVP in grade 10. Although I transferred to my local high school (Longfields Davidson Heights) in grade 11, I continued to push myself academically as I skipped grade 11 math and took grade 12 math courses. I enjoy taking math and science courses, which is probably the reason I scored a 35 on the STEM section of the ACT and a 790 on the SAT math. My ideal major would be computer science, computer network and information system or quantitative finance.
I am looking for a school which can allow me to get a great education as well as continuing my baseball dream.
