2022 SpotlightBaseball has been my passion since the age of 7 when I began playing competitively.
During this period of time, I have developed a strong work ethic, an appetite to improve my skills, and a desire to reach the next level as a player, a student, and a citizen of our community .
As I have noted, I have played in the Travel Team System for the Chatham Minor Baseball Association for 10 years. We have had success winning Ontario Championships in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
This pass year I played for the Sarnia Brigade A, (U-18) team.
I have developed my baseball skills while at the same time learning to except defeat and be a gracious winner. Many of these skills have transferred into the development of my level of competitiveness and in becoming a good loyal team mate.
Academically, my grades have been above average.
Through my involvement in many sports and a part-time job I have learned how to manage my time and develop a strong work ethic.
I am a leader and a person who gives back to his community. I have spent many hours assisting with youth programs and helping kids develop skills at camps and clinics.
My Athletic Career has been very versatile. I have played baseball, hockey, soccer, football, basketball, volleyball, golf, and badminton all at a competitive level.
I have excelled at several of these sports. I won the scoring championship in hockey for 6 consecutive seasons and was M.V.P. for both my Football and Basketball Teams in my grade ten year. As well, I was the MVP for our high school Baseball team last year. During the past spring I won the regional Doubles Badminton Championship with my brother and competed at the Provincial Level.
There are gaps in my athletic resume due to Covid and the cancellation of many activities during this time!
The Individual Award of which I am most proud is the Fergie Jenkins Award.
Fergie was born and raised in our town (Chatham) and played in the Chatham Minor Baseball System. Each year, one individual is chosen by our Baseball Association who shows the highest level of skill, along with leadership qualities both in baseball and our community. This player is chosen from among our 9 Travel Teams.
I won this award in 2017!
At the banquet that year I met Doug Melvin who is also from Chatham. At this time he was the General Manager of the Milwaukee Brewers and was the keynote speaker at this event.
He spoke of baseball and life long business of sport opportunities.
I was sold on his ideas and I remained in contact!
This past year at my High School, I was the Finalist for the Dr. Jack Parry Award. This award is presented annually to the Senior Student who combines Athletic Excellence along with leadership qualities and a sense of community while at the same time maintaining a high academic average.
I am a sincere individual who possess a strong desire to compete, excel, and lead in the world of baseball, academics and community.
I possess an ability to follow instruction, self start, budget time, and blend into a team setting.
I believe that I would be an asset to your program!
