2022 Spotlight
2021 Spotlight My name is Flynn Warren and I am a Right hand Pitcher / Middle infielder from Levin , New Zealand. I am in the graduating class of 2025.
Baseball has been my passion from 9 years old when I first saw an Anaheim Angels game while on vacation in Los Angeles in 2015. During this game, I saw Mike Trout rob a home run, and David Freese hit a walk-off home run. I thought this was the greatest thing ever, and since then have been in love with the game.
In 2017 I was lucky enough to have been selected to attend the World Children’s Baseball Fair, held in Yokohama, Japan. This was an amazing experience and further cemented my passion for the game. At the conclusion of the fair I was awarded a coaches award best player, which was an honor to receive.
I have been selected to represent the New Zealand 13U team 2 years in a row, competing at the Cal Ripken 70/50 World Series in Branson, Missouri in 2018 & 2019. Pitching against international teams from Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canada and Australia as well as US teams from New England, Southwest Region, California and Hawaii. In may of 2019 I was named Baseball New Zealand 13U Player of the Year. During the off season my focus is on strength and conditioning for baseball, but I also play competitive basketball for my junior varsity team.
I attend Waiopehu College, in Levin, NZ which has been the breeding ground for many elite athletes, with a long list of National representatives including All Blacks (Rugby, our National game). I understand the importance of being focused both on and off the diamond and in 2019 I was awarded top all round student of my class. My education is incredibly important to me, and I was awarded numerous excellence honors in my first year of high school in 2020 for Science and Mathematics. At college I plan to study towards a major in either a Computer Science, Mathematics or economics background.
It is my dream to play at a Collegiate level where I can contribute significantly on the field and to my team mates. I would like a baseball programme where I can make an impactful contribution. I am not tied to any one geographical location and am flexible with the size of the college I attend. After I graduate I want to compete in professional baseball, alternatively my aim is to specialize in a sports analytical role at the conclusion of my college education.
