Ryan Othen '22 Recruiting Profile

I am an Australian born right handed pitcher and Infielder/Catcher from Melbourne, Australia with experience switch hitting and playing outfield. I maintain dual citizenship (USA and Australia). My father is originally from New York and my mother is from Hong Kong. 

I am presently in Year 12 at Xavier College, a Jesuit Catholic Private High School in Melbourne, Australia, and have taken college preparatory classes in Mathematics, Chemistry, English, Japanese, Health and Human Development, Religion and Exercise Science.

I love everything about the game of baseball.  From the challenges and struggles to succeed, to the training and ultimately, the playing and winning games. I enjoy spending time at the field with teammates and talking baseball with my coaches.   

I believe I will be an asset to any college program because I am a good student and a versatile, coachable and team oriented player. I have been blessed with the opportunity to play  against the best players in our country, both in junior baseball for my home state of Victoria and at senior club level where I regularly play with and against professional and collegiate players. I have experience starting and closing games and like the opportunity to pitch with the game on the line.

My goal is to be able to attend a college that offers me the opportunity to maximize my academic and athletic potential.  I am a motivated and determined student athlete and want to help the college I attend win baseball games while also continuing to improve personally as a player, student and individual.
