Jared Nelson '14 Recruiting Profile

I am Jared Nelson. I have completed two years of baseball at Southwestern Illinois.. I am a left handed pitcher standing 6'1 and weighing 175 lbs. The game of baseball is my passion. I have a 2 and 4 seam fastball, changeup, and a curveball. I am always working to increase the velocity and fine tune my mechanics. I have attended Ron Wolforth’s pitching boot camp and Brent Pourciau's velocity camp. I have incorporated components of these camps into an intense workout program. My speed and athleticism are also assets.  I run a 6.5 60.   In high school, I was 1st team All District 6-5A and won our team's pitching award my Junior year and Honorable Mention All District my Senior year.  I was also awarded the Most Improved Player my sophomore year.  My career high school ERA was 3.81 including 1.76 my Junior year.  I also stole 24 of 28 bases.  I have been a relief pitcher in college.  I am usually brought in with men when we need to get out of an inning.  My sophomore season I had the lowest batting average against on our team.  I am a team player and have and will set high expectations both of myself and my team.  I have used this past year to get my academic affairs in order.  I have two years of eligibility remaining.  I would like to find a school that I will be a good fit both on and off the field.
