Evan O'Dowd '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Evan O'Dowd. I am a 2022 outfielder, and I attend Oratory Prep in Summit, New Jersey.  Ever since I was six years old, baseball has had a special place in my heart. I have always been drawn to the thrill and challenge of the sport, such as squaring up a ball at the plate or making a game-saving catch. There are no better feelings in the world. These emotions have stuck with me for over a decade, as I continue to pursue my passion for the game beyond high school. My goal is to play at the collegiate level, and make a profound impact on my team in any way to achieve victory. I make it a priority of mine to lead by example and be a great teammate. I support them no matter the circumstance, whether they are locked in or slumping, because I know they would do the same for me. I also strive to put in the work when nobody is watching. I acknowledge the fact that there are others that may have more talent than I do, but none of them work harder than I will. I am also open to any constructive criticism that is thrown at me. I appreciate it when my coaches, teachers, and parents tell me what I have done wrong, as it allows me to see that there is room for improvement and gives me the opportunity to succeed in the future. However, in order to succeed athletically, you must first succeed academically. School has always been my number one priority, as I have obtained the honor roll each year as well as a 94 GPA.
