May 2020
April 2020 I have had many influences in my life. My parents are my biggest influences and have provided me with the building blocks for my academic and athletic path. Additionally, my close friend group and volunteering for my community has helped shape me in to the person I am today. Like most serious athletes, I have been interested in baseball ever since I could pick up a ball. It’s playing the game of baseball that I have learned the most about myself. Winning is often easy but the tough losses have taught me how to deal with disappointment. I have increased my communication skills through my passion of baseball. As a catcher in baseball, I effectively communicate with my teammates, my coach, the opposing team, umpires, and occasionally a rowdy fan. It’s how I read each of these situations and react that I truly learn more about myself and what I am capable of.
Academically my goals are always to do the best I possibly can in my classes while learning and being an active participant in my education. After my college education, I plan on being in law enforcement and will be able to use many of the skills I have learned in baseball within my future career.
As a sophomore, I suffered a knee injury playing football for my High School team. My doctor was unsure if returning to catching would be possible but with lots of determination and hard work, I returned to baseball and catching a few months later and was stronger than ever. In addition to being a hard worker, I am an excellent team player who is open to constructive feedback from coaching staff. I am a leader on and off the field and I look forward to showing you my strengths in person.
